    Utah State Capitol Rotunda

The Dialogue on Democracy is a signature Coalition event, now in its sixth year, that brings together state and community leaders, legislators, educators, students, professors, judges, mayors, community members and others to discuss the important civic mission of schools for all K-16 students. The Dialogue includes activities for teachers, high school and university students, and culminates in a community dinner event with a national keynote speaker. The Dialogue on Democracy co-sponsors have included the Lt. Governor's Office and the Hinckley Institute of Politics. This year's speaker is former Governor Frank Keating, widely hailed for his compassionate and professional handling of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal building in Oklahoma City. Governor Keating was also mentioned as a potential vice-presidential pick with Senator John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign. The event will be held at the Capitol Rotunda on Thursday, September 10th at 6:30 p.m. Past speakers have included General Brent Scowcroft, Lee Hamilton, Larry Sabato, Charles Haynes and David Skaggs.
